DJ Harvey has announced a month-long residency at Bali nightclub Klymax Discotheque.

The space, which opened on New Year’s Eve, is based in the Potato Head resort and is part of the beach-front venue Desa Potato Head.

DJ Harvey is set to play every Saturday from May 11 until June 1 performing all-night-long on the club’s custom-made soundsystem.

With DJ Harvey channeling more than 40 years of clubbing experience into helping design the club in his vision, Klymax Discotheque features a sprung dancefloor with a capacity of 400, floor-to-ceiling perforated wood panelling, and a soundsystem built to specification by audio engineer George Stavro, with subs and horns inspired by Paradise Garage.

Tokyo’s RealRockDesign worked on the lighting, and the bar serves cocktails on tap to avoid the noise pollution of mixology affecting the aural experience.

On top of this, Harvey has selected a bunch of films to be screened in the Potato Head Soundspace during the Bali Sojourn.

Speaking on DJ Harvey’s attention to detail, Creative Director Dan Mitchell told Mixmag: “Usually you have a space and put a soundsystem in it…but we had the luxury of being able to design the sound with the space holistically.”

He added: “If you want to put a disco ball up, he'll [DJ Harvey] tell you that you can't have a disco ball up unless there is a certain amount of dust on it because apparently when you have dust on a disco ball, it gives off a softer light than if it were freshly polished.”

Kylmax’s Friday nights will see guests such as HAAi, Jonathan Kusuma, and Sophie McAlister play, as well as residents Seabass, Gero and Dita.

Previously, Desa Potato Head’s Beach Club has seen the likes of Midland, Honey Dijon, Peggy Gou, Palms Trax, Jayda G, and of course, DJ Harvey.

Last year, DJ Harvey shocked Pikes Ibiza regulars as he announced that he would not be playing his usual residency at the club.

In a handwritten note, he reassured fans: “Nevertheless, Pikes is in safe hands, and I shall return next year to keep that Mercury rising.”
