Saigon club Arcan closes just one month shy of its seventh anniversary

Saigon-based club Arcan has announced its closure just one month before its seventh anniversary.

Over the years, Arcan established itself as a cornerstone of Vietnam’s techno scene while also embracing metal, hip hop, drag shows, experimental music, and more—its diversity shaping its identity.

Recently, the Bình Thạnh venue welcomed acts like Animistic Beliefs, Frazi.er, and Two Shell.

In a heartfelt open letter, founder Josselin Ferruzza aka Goss sheds light on the struggles and behind-the-scenes realities of running a venue—an often overlooked aspect of the industry.

Reflecting on Arcan’s journey, Goss emphasises the need for collaboration and resilience in the nightlife scene:

“We need to regroup and reach out, bringing together like-minded individuals who can give Arcan what I could no longer. We need to recognise our unique strengths within the nightlife scene and collaborate meaningfully, ensuring that the music business and the music culture support and uplift each other. When these elements work in harmony, they create a deeper, more authentic experience—one that can sustain itself and grow over time.”

Since the announcement, Arcan has told Mixmag Asia they’ve received extensive support, from backers and alternative venues, with their next steps being to find a new dedicated home for their events.

In their closure announcement post, they reflected: "These past six years have been a truly wild ride. We lost a lot, but we also gained plenty. Our deepest thanks to everyone who contributed to making Arcan a home for many. Together, we revolutionised Saigon’s clubbing scene."

With Hanoi’s renowned venue Savage set to close in the coming months, changes are on the horizon for Vietnam's nightlife scene.
