Deadmau5 apologises for getting blackout drunk during Coachella set
The Canadian DJ played back-to-back with ZHU under their TESTPILOT alias

deadmau5, real name Joel Zimmerman, has apologised to fans after getting blackout drunk during his Coachella set over the weekend.
Zimmerman performed alongside ZHU under their TESTPILOT alias on Friday, April 18, on the festival’s new electronic-focused stage Quasar, which opened for the first time last year.
Videos of the pair playing back-to-back emerged online following their set, showing them taking shots together, while others capture Zimmerman falling over on stage, slurring his words over the mic, and spraying ZHU with silly string.

The next day, Zimmerman told fans via Instagram that he doesn’t “remember a thing” from his set with ZHU, and that their performance together would likely be his “last Coachella show”.
“But I don't think I had a cig? So... that's good I guess? Going back to bed,” he wrote alongside a photo of a water bottle. “Wake me up around Thursday ish.”

Later that same day, he returned to Instagram to apologise to fans, writing: “Man, even my cat is disappointed in me. Tho, it could be argued that she always has been. Sorry about last night. Lol.”
“TO BE FAIR, I felt the first 3/4 was great! Huge shout out to ZHU for introducing me to whisky and carrying my dumb ass till the bitter end,” he continued.
“Lemme quit smoking, do some fucken personal resetting here at home, find my spirit animal, work on some new music, and come back better.”
