Artefakt & AHPR lead Asia label tour & workshop series for Field Records

Dutch duo Artefakt (Robin Koek and Nick Lapien) and AHPR are headed to Asia next week as part of Field Records’ ‘Floating World’ 15th-anniversary label tour and will also lead a series of field recording workshops.

Field Records is a Dutch electronic music imprint founded in 2008 by music curator and writer, Arjan Rietveld. Often going by his AHPR moniker, Rietveld explores the boundaries of ambient space as an extension of his curating efforts.

The label itself amassed a reputation for being firmly rooted in minimalism and modesty. Covering a wide range of sounds from ambient to breaks and techno, it has published over 30 physical releases since its inception.

Celebrating its 15th year in operation, Field Records aims to bring a series of pioneering electronic music experiences to Asia through label nights and intimate workshops.

AHPR and Artefakt lead the line-up for Field Records’ ‘Floating World’ tour, whose first dates have been announced in Vietnam, Hong Kong, South Korea and Japan. Koek will also perform under his Cyspe moniker at one of the showcases.

A number of local stalwarts will be joining the Dutch artists behind the decks. Representing Hong Kong will be Yong Ying, while Koshin will perform when the tour hits South Korea. Japan will be represented by Chihei Hatakeyama and OCCA.

Limited to 15 attendees, the ‘Landscape’ workshops will be led by Koek, Lapien and Rietveld and focus on field recordings. It aims to invite attendees to be more sonically aware of their surroundings and dive deeper into the rich cultural heritage of their locale from a different angle — through sound.

The workshops will offer an inclusive first introduction to the practice of field recording. Following the on-site activities, participants will be given three weeks to practice the methodologies and skills learned before a follow-up knowledge-sharing moment with their respective venue hosts (HUM in Hanoi and VURT. in Seoul).
