'Boodle Fights' EP ignites a dance-floor family affair
UNOS' debut EP finds an apt home at Darker Than Wax
Thinking about cats and synths again? UNOS has you covered.
A long-time member of the Darker Than Wax unit as a DJ and party starter, Belgian artist UNOS feeds us with her first EP ‘Boodle Fight’, which lands on home turf on March 15.
Playing to her Filipino roots, ‘Boodle Fight’ takes its namesake from a local tradition of serving food in a large and shared manner, and indulging in bare-hand, utensil-free eating with family and friends.

The conceptual focus of the EP was spurred while UNOS was on her debut Asia tour in 2019 — she was quickly enamoured by the community aspect of club culture on display while visiting Singapore, Bangkok and Manila. The pandemic that ensued shortly after was taken as a threat to a community-driven belief system that empowered her; hope for togetherness on the dance floor, much like a “musical boodle fight” became the ethos of her debut EP.
UNOS injects plenty of love with intensity into ‘Boodle Fight’, starting off with the first ‘Angermanagement' on the A side, which dropped last week (February 22). Right through to the B side which finishes with ‘Loveletter to Summer’, UNOS serves up a cosmic buffet of sounds that exude a heavy mix of warmth, elation and bouncy rhythmic goodness — sure-fire fuel for the level of dance floor action we expect to see this getting for the rest of the year.

The artist makes no reservation in translating her conceptual vision to embrace poignant themes of inclusivity, social safety and diversity, much to our aural applause.
