UK star Fredrik Ferrier talks about his new single with DJ Lizzy

UK TV star Fredrik Ferrier and Chinese DJ Lizzy Wang's new single 'Seeking Your Love' (Ferry Corsten RMX) is on heavy rotation on Chinese music platform NetEase Cloud Music. The massively catchy east-west collab dropped last week, and we caught up with Fredrik to get his take on this big-time collaboration.

It all started when Fredrik's friend in Hong Kong introduced Lizzy to him, and the idea of collaborating clicked for Lizzy as soon as she heard his music. Fredrik, who had always wanted to explore China, jumped at the chance. "I’ve always had a fascination with the far east...it's a place that feels vast and unknown," Fredrik told us. "It was like a dream come true for me to explore China through music."

As 'Seeking Your Love' is Fredrik's first time working with a Chinese artist, he confessed his fascination with the project. "I believe the best things in life come from collaboration of all kinds of things...you might find a new flavor or sound if you work with artists outside your region." Another first for Fredrik was singing on an EDM track, something he hadn’t considered doing, with his classical training and pop music background.

The two worked closely on the track and had a lot of fun along the way. "I like Lizzy's energy and the way she gives honest comments on the music...she's efficient too," he added. They also worked together on the lyrics, since some of them didn't make sense in English but sounds fine if translated to Chinese. "An example would be like, there originally was a line 'I’m gonna find you and I’m gonna get you', it sounds kind of scary, so we changed that to 'I wanna take you to where I found you'."

'Seeking Your Love' is featured on Billboard Presents Electric Asia Vol 3 which is an eclectic spin around Asia. The album also features 14 other Asian dance music tracks produced by TOKiMONSTA, Myrne, RayRay and many others. Listen to 'Seeking Your Love' here.
