Back in August, Mixmag Asia and Patrón Tequila made a collaborative Jakarta debut with an evening built around sound, taste and closeness, designed to be felt as a single experience.

If the first night was anything to go by, the next is worth making plans for.

The evening began with La Familia, an invitation-only vibe-dining moment where renowned selector Pam Anantr soundtracked the pairing of Mexican and Indonesian ingredients with delectable Patrón pours. A room filled with Jakarta's most prolific creatives was hosted by Patrón Tequila SEA Brand Ambassador Maria Kim.

Building on from the five-course vibe-dining moment at Kilo Lounge Jakarta, the night moved Le Cirque for The Pursuit, carrying the energy from the dinner table to the dancefloor and deep into the early hours. Diskoria opened with a live-hybrid set pulled from Indonesia’s disco archive, Pam Anantr then took over with her club-ready selections, and Bali’s Dita brought the night home with a euphoric finish.

Now, the second chapter of The Pursuit of arrives on November 19 in the intimate and plush setting of Velvet The Social Club.

Get to know the line-up connecting Seoul’s bass-heavy underground with Jakarta’s own clubbing lineage.

DJ co.kr

Pronounced "koh-ker", DJ co.kr is a Seoul-based DJ and producer who has spent seven years building a bridge between UK-flavoured club sounds and Korea’s fast-moving scene. Inspired by the wave of UK acts passing through venues such as Cakeshop and Club Modeci, co.kr built a reputation in Seoul’s underground for cross-genre sets that fold bass, breaks and house into something unmistakably their own, and founded the party brand Ghetto-Ray to reshape the city’s dancefloors along the same lines.

He’s caught the attention of crews such as Steel City Dance Discs and labels like Biroso Records, and made a production debut with 2020’s ‘SOUNDBWOY’, with a slew of releases following afterwards. His music has been featured on NTS Radio and, more recently, at UNVRS Ibiza, alongside performances for Bottega Veneta, Louis Vuitton and Nike, and appearances across Berlin, London and Montreal.

The timing of his Jakarta debut couldn’t be better. ‘After School’, his newest EP, dropped on October 29; expansive four-track EP for Peggy Gou’s Gudu label where Baltimore club, breakbeats, house and UKG collide under a dubwise haze that gives away a love of UK sounds.

Hogi

Few names carry as much weight in Indonesia’s underground as Hogi. A DJ, producer and founding member of the FUTURE10 collective, he’s been behind some of the country’s most memorable parties and events, from his own Back In The Days and Turn On Plastic nights to The Junction Festival in Bali and the iconic Jakarta Movement events.

His sets are known for their energy and eclectic approach, moving freely between funk, disco, punk, acid house and techno. His production work is just as varied. Early collaborations with Grant Dell as Masonic Noodles caught the attention of Laurent Garnier and Charles Webster, while the ‘Nu 4 U’ EP on San Francisco’s Grayhound Records, produced alongside Ben Cook under the name Stranger Bay remains a nu-disco favourite.

Hogi also co-founded the award-winning band Agrikulture, helping kickstart Indonesia’s live electronic scene, before turning to modular synthesis during the pandemic. In 2024 he launched C.A.K.R.A.W.A.L.A., joining deep, psychedelic house and techno with esoteric, modular-driven textures, with more releases and live shows set for the near future.

Kenny Gabriel

Kenny Gabriel is a musician in the fullest sense. Raised in a family and community of musicians, he absorbed everything from rock and classical to jazz and soul before settling on a fondness for the hypnotic rhythms of electronica, house and techno.

His work spans several roles, from multi-instrumentalist and DJ to arranger and composer. In 2014, he was named Best National Keyboardist before going on to win Season 2 of the national talent show The Remix in 2016. You might also know him as part of Batavia Collective.

On the production side, he’s contributed to well-regarded local releases by Svmmerdose, Teddy Adhitya, Audrey Tapiheru and Mahalini, among others. Behind the decks, he’s part of Jakarta’s Bebop Collective and has played festivals spanning a wide range of sounds, from Java Jazz Festival and Djakarta Warehouse Project to Synchronize Festival and Wonderfruit.

Together, the three make for a night that moves between continents and eras: Seoul’s UK-informed club energy, Indonesia’s pioneering underground and a musician’s ear for rhythm.

If the first night showed what a packed Jakarta dancefloor can do, this one carries that spirit forward with a new cast of selectors.

The second chapter of #ThePursuitJKT takes place on November 19 at Velvet The Social Club with DJ co.kr, Hogi and Kenny Gabriel. Space is limited for this event at one of Jakarta’s “most talked about” clubs, secure your spot via this link here.
