Peggy Gou announces ‘Gudu & Friends Vol.2’ with first single from Mogwaa
If the lead track is anything to go off of, we’re in store for a heater of a project
Peggy Gou announces her label’s second VA, titled ‘Gudu & Friends Vol.2’, with the first single from Mogwaa titled ‘Arctica’ out now.
Scheduled for release on May 2, this compilation boasts a stellar line-up of both seasoned veterans and fresh faces. It features tracks from familiar faces like Alinka, Gina Breeze, Jordan Nocturne (featuring Coco Cole), Minju and Nyra — alongside Hiver, Mogwaa, Dukwa and Matisa.
The project will be released digitally as well as on a limited edition cassette.
If Mogwaa’s contribution is anything to go off, the project will be exceptional.
In his signature style, Mogwaa is in his energetic and enthralling bag on this one. The track kicks off with two minutes of percussion being the main event, which never once gets dull; a tricky feat to pull off.
Wooshing synths weave effortlessly amidst the stabbing drums before in-your-face bass hits overriding the mix. The sound is full-bodied and the intricacies tie in together so seamlessly.
It’s broken up by ethereal synth melodies throughout the track, and although it isn’t the most altering track we’ve heard, it never once grows tired in the 7-minute run time, proving once again that Mogwaa is going from strength to strength.

Mixmag Asia reached out to Mogwaa, who explained: “For this track, I wanted to try something I haven’t tried; I wanted to be more uptempo and cheerful than any other track I’ve produced.

He continues, “Also, soundwise, I tried to expand the whole sound image and be more colourful. So it can open your chest when you listen to it. I really want the listener to be happy with the smile on their face when they listen to this track.”
