Yukari Okamura works mesmeric ambient vibes into Adam Rahman’s ‘In A Daze’
The track comes part of the new ‘Theta’ EP out via KitchenSync Records
Dubai-based producer Adam Rahman released his five-track ‘Theta’ EP yesterday, April 6. It features three original tracks and remixes from India’s SHFT and Japan’s Yukari Okamura.
Rahman, who also goes by his A \ S \ O \ M alias, is credited as a driving force in the electronic music scene of the Middle East thanks to his WARPED club nights that introduced forward-thinking techno to a budding underground community at the time. He also was responsible for bringing over big names such as Sven Vath, Derrick May, Carl Craig and more during his time at Ohm Records.

‘Theta’ EP, out via KitchenSync Records which Rahman co-runs, is a mesmerising blend of pensive pads, transfixing percussions and psychedelic soundscapes that showcase his range of all-embracing electronica. Rich in deep, chugging beats and pulsating percussions, Rahman’s original tracks ‘Subdued Grip’, ‘In A Daze’ and ‘When You Decide To Sleep’ radiates with minimal techno intensity as they transport you into hypnosis — the good kind, where you voluntarily let music take control of your body.

Strengthening the overall vibe of the EP, Rahman calls upon fellow producer Yukari Okamura to work her magic on the track ‘In A Daze’. The original’s darker-sounding resonances and galloping beat are transmuted into a wispy, ambient cut that stays true to the deep, sonorous characteristics of Rahman’s compositions. Muted snares oscillate over ethereal pads and a precise beat, adding a dash of mysterious elation to the downtempo track.
