The Observatory announces closure at the end of October
The Ho Chi Minh City venue shuts its doors after 13 years & three locations, announced on its Instagram account
The Observatory, Ho Chi Minh City's long-running house and techno club, has announced it will shut its doors at the end of October 2026, closing out nearly 13 years across three locations across the city.
The club emerged as a "modest, family-oriented venture aiming to provide a platform for their local scene", with Dan Bi Mong, also known as Hibiya Line, shaping its direction as founding resident alongside Nic Ford and Dan Lo.
By its tenth anniversary in 2023, the resident roster had grown to 18 DJs spanning a wide range of genres, styles and tempos.
That anniversary year also brought five weeks of resident nights and takeovers such as by Savage, Giegling, Pawnshop and Siamese Twins.
Its current home, on the 10th floor of 85 CMT8, has hosted the club for the past eight years.

According to the social media post, over 800 artists have played at the venue since.
The Observatory previously hosted Rainbow Disco Club’s Vietnam debut last October; part of a run that also stopped in Goa and Lisbon.

With two months of programming remaining, The Observatory will announce its September line-up soon, one of its final two before the space at 85 CMT8 closes.
