Philippine streetwear brand OXGN release final drop of budots-inspired collection

OXGN, a Philippine streetwear brand, has released the October drop of The Final Round, the last of three collection releases in its 2026 campaign.

The campaign is built around budots, the genre that has moved from Davao City to international stages.

The genre’s story began in 2010, when Sherwin Tuna aka DJ Love started layering jeepney horns and animal sounds over off-beat basslines, creating a sound rooted in everyday Filipino street life.

Even further exposure came in April 2023, when Manila Community Radio recorded a budots showcase with DJ Love on the line-up.

In August 2024, he released his debut album, ‘Budots World (Reloaded)’, through Eastern Margins. The record includes newer variants of the genre such as bomb-tek, showing how the sound continues to evolve.

OXGN launched the campaign in August under the banner "Local Sound. Global Recognition. Streetwear Expression."

The collection draws on Amekaji, the Japanese interpretation of American casual style. Across both men's and women's lines, the pieces feature relaxed silhouettes, camouflage prints and textured fabrics.

“We wanted to show that Filipino streetwear can stand confidently beside global style movements while still staying close to the people it was made for,” explains Cathleen Cotioco, Brand Director of OXGN.

When the campaign first launched, it was introduced with a promotional video set to 'TIW TIW 2025', a budots and hip hop fusion track by Sgamo and Jarreau Vandal, which was made as a tribute to DJ Love and the genre's Davao roots.
