Mina makes Taipei debut at inaugural GLOWBALL ROOM

Sonia Calico continues to push forward groundbreaking efforts in the world of electronic music. In addition to her sonic and visual masterpieces, the Taipei-based artist also curated Synergy Festival — a two-day celebration of Taiwan’s creative scenes.

Working closely with a passionate cohort of like-minded enthusiasts, returns with GLOWBALL — a platform that serves as a cultural hub, encouraging the embrace of indigenous sounds within the Asian community.

“With a foundation rooted in accessibility and innovation, GLOWBALL endeavours to demystify the intricate world of Global Club culture for Taiwanese audiences,” mentions the press release.

The GLOWBALL spirit is then embodied in an event named GLOWBALL ROOM — a haven where music and movement intertwine to create a unique sensory experience.

Headlining the first-ever event on February 24 at Taipei Music Center is London’s own Mina, marking her debut in the city.

Mina's journey through genres like drum’n’bass, amapiano, Afrobeats, UK funky and dancehall, coupled with her immersive experiences in Africa, have shaped her into a matriarch of the club scene. She’s also known for her collaboration with Ghanaian rapper Bryte, which results in an eclectic blend of genres that make dancefloors pulse with energy.

The NTS host and co-founder of the DJ collective Boko! Boko! remains committed to championing Afro-inspired club vibes, pocketing performances at prestigious events worldwide, including MoMA PS1 and Nyege Nyege Festival.

Joining Mina for the inaugural GLOWBALL ROOM event are local luminaries, including B E N N, the visionary behind Over My Body, FINAL's resident DJ SULK, and Sonia Calico herself.

Adding a visual spectacle is IXONORAX, a member of the internationally acclaimed 3D visual collective NAXS Future, taking the GLOWBALL ROOM experience to new artistic heights.

GLOWBALL ROOM featuring Mina takes place on February 24 at Taipei Music Center Livehouse D, starting 9pm.

Advance tickets for NTD500 are only available for purchase at Whimsy Works art gallery, while Door tickets go for NTD650.
