Magnetic Fields bids farewell to Alsisar & announces new festival for early 2026
“The blueprint is drawn, the spark is lit” organisers wrote, promising a more connected & intentional experience when Nomads launches in Khetri
Magnetic Fields, the festival that has taken place in Rajasthan’s Alsisar Mahal since 2013, has announced that it will not return to the desert location this year and onwards.
The festival announced today (September 9) that they are closing this chapter and will instead launch a new event called Nomads, with its first edition set for February 13–15, 2026, in Khetri, Rajasthan.
In a statement shared on Instagram, they wrote: “After 10 unforgettable years, Magnetic Fields bids a tender farewell to Alsisar Mahal and the village of Alsisar, carrying with us a deep and enduring gratitude for the warmth, generosity, and spirit that shaped a decade of magic.”
They went on to add: “We are reimagining how the Magnetic Fields experience is embodied - inviting our community to return to something more connected, more intentional and more present. The blueprint is drawn, the spark is lit and we can’t wait to reveal what we’ve been building with you soon.”
Since its inception, Magnetic Fields has brought both international and Indian artists to Alsisar, including Nicola Cruz, David August, Midland, Jane Fitz, Ahadadream, Sofia Kourtesis, Nikki Nair, Yu Su, Hudson Mohawke, and Glass Beams.
The festival also developed collaborative projects such as Fieldlines, blending electronic music with Rajasthani folk traditions, and Puqaar, which explored ghazals and haveli sangeet.

Explaining the shift, festival co-founder Sarah Elizabeth Chawla said, “We have never been about the biggest stages, names or largest crowds. We want to be more intentional and reconnect with our purpose as a festival, using culture as an opportunity to centre and ground ourselves, not as a space for distraction and dissociation.”
She continues: “Our goal is to challenge perceptions of what a festival can be, encouraging presence and sticking to our signature curation that weaves heritage and futurism into a bold new future.”
On Instagram, longtime supporters of the festival and team shared their gratitude and excitement in the comments section.
