Teletech launches drug safety video ahead of this weekend's festival

Techno promoter Teletech has launched a drug safety campaign ahead of its forthcoming festival in Manchester.

Teletech Festival is set to take place this weekend (August 3 and 4) at Manchester’s BEC Arena, and ahead of the event they have shared a video to social media called ‘Teletech Drug Information Conference’ — featuring techno stalwarts Azyr and Rebekah, as well as Teletech founders Anton and Tom.

Launched in collaboration with drug-testing group The Loop, the video contains some “hard truths” about drug taking in the UK, with information provided by The Loop CEO Katy Porter and relayed by Azyr and Rebekah about “super strength MDMA pills” found in circulation nearby at Manchester’s Parklife festival.

Azyr says that by sharing the information he hopes fans will be more “aware and have a safer experience at the festival”, with Rebekah saying “For those choosing to take drugs, the message is clear - take ecstasy in quarters, sip water, and be patient.”

Some of the other messages contained in the video are: Mixing drugs with alcohol increases user risk, the average pill strength has increased, pill weight is often an indicator of its strength, and seeking medical assistance when unwell will not get you or your friends in trouble.

Last month, a 20-year-old man died following being taken ill at a Teletech party at Manchester’s Hidden nightclub, with Teletech subsequently cancelling an event as a mark of respect and to evaluate with their team.

The video released by Teletech is part of several recent measures regarding drug testing and risk reduction, with The Loop recently announcing a new MDMA risk-reduction training course for those working in industries where people might consume drugs.
