Mixmag Asia's most vivid photos of 2022
This year summed up in insatiable images from our archives
2022 definitely had its share of delightful dance music scene moments and we’re lucky enough to have gotten our hands on most of them! With the revival of festivals, blossoming of collectives and rise of new talent in the region, Asia came back with a bang and we’ve got pictures to prove it.
Singapore saw a surge of next-generation ravers dancing to esoteric sets at the otherworldly Outer Bounce event which took place at Haw Par Villas. Jakarta, on the other hand, made use of a unique dome structure and turned it into a celestial celebration for the city’s first post-pandemic rave.
Korean festival The Air House resurrected the country’s electronic music scene back in June as it took place in the mountainous countryside of Chuncheon, with locals showing up to the elated event in large numbers.
No, we would not and could not forget images from the cult-favourite ‘Cave Rave’ that gave us stunning shots (and the occasional feeling of FOMO) from Mo Luong Cave in North Vietnam and its dancing inhabitants.
Events aren’t all that caught our eyes, though. Nudged in between these 52 photos we present you are the equally striking vintage shots of early clubbing days across Asia, aesthetic analogue images of Bangkok at night that ooze with neon-lit radiance, plus snaps from our Mixmag Asia Vietnam launch event at Aura Saigon.
They say a picture’s worth a thousand words, but we won’t put you through the task of reading a lengthy description of the ones we’ve picked out.
