Lucy In The Sky’s SCBD branch announces closure after 14 years in Jakarta

Lucy In The Sky has confirmed the permanent closure of its SCBD rooftop location via the venue’s official Instagram account on January 13.

The closing of the SCBD outlet marks the end of a 14-year run in Jakarta that began in 2011.

Located in the capital's Sudirman Central Business District, Lucy In The Sky SCBD was known for its rooftop setting amid office towers. The venue featured a semi-open layout with a glasshouse-style roof, garden terrace, hanging plants, and a mix of indoor and outdoor seating.

Music programming was notably inclusive, spanning more club-oriented sounds like techno and house alongside live bands, karaoke nights, and koplo.

Throughout its operation, the SCBD branch supported local crews, artists, and collectives by hosting regular dance music-focused nights such as OPTIMAL and Sunset People Project’s Sunday parties, alongside Videostarr and its thematic singalong nights.

The space has also hosted names such as Dipha Barus, Hugo LX and Prins Thomas behind its decks.

In its closing statement, management wrote, “After 14 years on a rooftop that became part of so many lives, we have made the decision to close Lucy in the Sky SCBD for good”, adding that the decision came “with a very heavy heart”.

The statement also thanked those who were part of its operations, including “the music team who gave this rooftop its rhythm and mood”, as well as its long-standing staff and collaborators.

In addition, they also acknowledged “our Lucy cats who watched it all unfold in their own way”.

While the SCBD rooftop has closed, Lucy In The Sky continues its presence in Jakarta through its Senayan Park location.
