Javabass Soundsystem premiered their latest music video ‘KONSISTENSI MENGHANTAM’ on December 2; a visual reflection of the highs and lows that have shaped their 25-year journey.

Those behind the track and in front of the camera are Javabass Soundsystem co-founder Jerome, Mantasticmate, Yacko, Tatahir, and Ziansax on saxophone, who come together as J.M.Y.T.Z for a dynamic Amen roller.

The Javabass crew are considered pioneers of Jakarta’s drum’n’bass community, contributing to its subculture through music, events, their label Javabass Recordings, and other cultural immersions.

Created for the ‘HOMEGROWN 25’ exclusive track, the video places the artists in two contrasting locations across Jakarta, mirroring the track’s sentiment of sweet and bitter moments in their longstanding dedication to music.

Speaking to Mixmag Asia about the new music video, the crew explain: “Well, the song was actually created exclusively to be part of the compilation album that was our take of celebration for the Javabass 25-year anniversary. As a drum’n’bass label running the scene for 25 years, we have already experienced it all—the good and bad, the sweet and bitter, the struggle and the reward, the tears and the happiness of the journey. The survival, the passion, and the dedication. Always staying true to the music that we all loved.”

They added: “We decided to do two different locations to represent contrasting views. One is the nice modern side of Jakarta, representing the good positive vibes of our journey. The other is an abandoned building covered in graffiti, representing the rough and difficult side of our 25-year path, as expressed in the lyrics”.

Directed by Kukuh, the video presents the full lyrics animated in a font-style graphic created by their longtime partner VJ Adi Blak, allowing the viewers to absorb the full message of the track.
