Wata Igarashi lands on Dekmantel with the full techno velocity of ‘My Supernova’
Dropping next month, the Dutch label album debut amps up his signature arpeggios & rhythms, led by ‘Shockwave’ & ‘Unleashed’
Wata Igarashi’s debut album for Dekmantel, ‘My Supernova’, presents a clear statement of where the Tokyo-born, now-Amsterdam-based producer stands in 2025.
Thirteen years into his career, Igarashi brings together the looping structures and layered synth work that have defined his sound, shaping them into a cohesive nine-track record.
He describes it as “a self-portrait of me in 2025”, reflecting the influence of his relocation to Amsterdam and the busy touring schedule that has informed his recent output.

His first single, ‘Shockwave’, introduces the album’s energy perfectly. Its buzzing synths form a looping, high-speed melody that feels like a chase in motion, constantly shifting direction as layers of percussion build around it.

The second released track, ‘Unleashed’, takes a darker approach. Static tones and warped pitches ride over a dense percussive framework, creating a dizzying sense of disorientation in the best possible way.
From tunnelling rhythms and psychoactive arpeggios to ecstatic propulsion and dizzying introspection, ‘My Supernova’ captures Igarashi at full velocity.
