The Salvages welcomes its "Third Summer of Love" with new apparel line
Named 'SUBLIME', the collection includes a print of The Sun’s ‘Evil of Ecstasy’
The Salvages releases their ‘SUBLIME’ collection for their third summer of love that’s decked out with pieces “inspired by 90’s rave & festivals”.
The Singapore-based fashion house has brought the club to us with its vibrant 2023 Spring/Summer collection that pays homage to the 90s club culture scene.
Headed by Earn Chen and designer Nicolette Yip, the two have been steadfast in staying relevant and authentic to what they believe is true fashion. Initially, the brand was created for Earn to sell his vast collection of one-of-a-kind pieces, and from there it grew into what it is today — a portal for iconic motifs of subcultures and style.
Their threads feature a pretty iconic moment in dance music history — the infamous ‘Evil of Ecstasy’ piece that came out in The Sun in 1988 aka the “Second Summer of Love”. You’ll be able to find this print on a button short-sleeved shirt, vest, shorts, t-shirts and other unique variations along with The Salvages logo.
Another piece in the collection includes a T-shirt from the D.A.R.E movement, which has been adapted to C.A.R.E, to keep kids on dance floors.
Other items include neutral colours against a dynamic neon logo, trippy graphic visuals, vibrant party flyers and unique deconstructed ideas against t-shirts, jeans, vests, shorts and more. Nicolette shares that the overall concept of the collection exudes a comfortable vibe that allows for freedom of movement, baggy silhouettes, relaxed shapes and weatherproof fabrics making it ideal for festival-goers.
"Reflecting an optimistic outlook, I wanted the collection to embody the spirit of celebration as we navigated post-Covid times, with everyone eager to reclaim a sense of normalcy and joy, and with a generation of youth exploring their own expression of party culture, making it an homage to both the past and the present," mentions Nicolette when asked about the inspiration behind the collection.

“The ‘Third Summer of Love' holds meaning for me as it represents a profound and communal celebration of happiness and freedom. Like the first and second in the 60s and 80s respectively, this term signifies a transformative cultural time when people came together, to embrace love, joy, and unity by expressing themselves through music, dance and a shared sense of liberation,” she adds exclusively to Mixmag Asia.

Just a few months ago, we had the pleasure of speaking to Earn (who’s also known to frequent dance floors) for a post-party food guide, where he shared his fave spot for snacking in Singapore.
Outside of the ‘SUBLIME’ collection, the brand also carries sweaters with tributes to dance icons such as David Mancuso and Andrew Weatherall that’ll keep you warm and cosy in the studios.
