Strange Fruit reinvent their sound on new electronic-forward single ‘Iridescent’
“If we kept making guitar-based music like before, this band would have died.”
Strange Fruit’s latest single ‘Iridescent’, released yesterday (November 24, 2025), presents a clear and focused step into electronic territory for the Jakarta-based band.
The track opens with weightless synth layers, light percussion, and soft vocal lines, shaping a steady Kosmische atmosphere.
As the arrangement develops, sequenced drum machines and a minimal bass pattern create a tighter rhythmic foundation. Synthesist Irza Aryadiaz describes the sound as “electrifying yet weightless”; an accurate summary of the track that moves with quiet propulsion, never forcing its momentum.
Around the midpoint, ‘Iridescent’ shifts into a more dance-oriented groove, supported by subtle modular textures and clean, spacious production.
When the guitar enters near the end, the mood lifts without breaking the track’s flow, connecting the band’s earlier rock elements with its current electronic framework.

This transition reflects the group’s broader creative pivot: “We wanted to discover strange sounds that can’t be found on a guitar. By venturing into electronic music, Strange Fruit can break through sonic barriers that once seemed impossible. If we kept making guitar-based music like before, this band would have died,” vocalist Baldi Calvianca notes.

Produced with Bernardus Fritz, ‘Iridescent’ serves as the first look at ‘Drips’, the nine-track EP arriving in March 2026 via Gentle Tuesday Recordings.
Additional singles and remixes from Jonathan Kusuma, Hardway Bros, and Tom Furse will lead the rollout, setting the stage for a release that expands the band’s newly sharpened electronic vocabulary.
