Sonia Calico takes to the digital landscape for a collaborative remix EP
‘Change, Reset’ feat. Princi is out today on TREKKIE TRAX
Taiwanese electronic artist Sonia Calico drops her latest single with Australian vocalist Princi, accompanied by remixes from across Asia.
‘Change, Reset’ is just out today following the very recent video release of ‘Mukbang Roller’, a dark and twisted interpretation of the single which was taken from her debut album ‘Simulation of an Overloaded World’.
While seen by the rest of the world as being at the helm of Taiwan’s musical underground, Sonia’s work stems from pure commitment, fervour and stepping up to challenges. With this latest single, Sonia takes a step back from her solo-driven concepts and delivers a more delicate sound that’s fitting to Tokyo based label TREKKIE TRAX, who’ve commissioned a pan-Asian remix package of varying styles via Carpainter, KΣITO, Mark Redito, and Kelvin T.
The original by Sonia which features Australian vocalist Princi, is a true testament to the digital landscape that artists are able to collaborate and connect through in today’s world — technology has fewer limitations, and creativity spawns plenty of freshness. Sonia is an artist who fully embraces modern mechanisms, and Princi no less with her unwavering reputation behind club futurism as a vocalist.
The release by TREKKIE TRAX culminates as an Asia-Pacific affair that includes Australia, Japan, Philippines, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. And musically, the release is a medley of futuristic representations of each of those counties’ underbelly scenes where the creative process has been recently thriving.
