Asia's first-ever boutique alpine music festival debuts in Nagano this weekend
Snow Machine offers unique winter lifestyle experiences soundtracked by electronic music
Prepare to dance upon pristine snowfields high atop the Japanese Alps at Snow Machine, a new winter music festival that will debut in Japan on March 1 - 4. This four-day alpine festival will take place in Hakuba Valley, the largest ski destination in Japan, offering challenging and exciting on- and off-piste activities in one of the world's most beautiful places.
Shows will be hosted on five different stages: Main Area, Après – Ski Happo, Après - Ski Goryu, First Base Happo and Sky Forest Iwatake. Artists like Peking Duk, Hermitude, Client Liaison, Shinichi Osawa, What So Not, FEMM, DJ Kentaro, Running Touch, Confidence Man and Hot Dub Time Machine are all set to play. See the full line-up below.
As winter festivals are rare in Japan, Snow Machine has emphasized its lifestyle activities like skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling. Further activities with Japanese features will be organized like Kimono dressing, a Taiko drum tour, Sushi cooking classes and Michelin-calibre dining including a Mumm Long Lunch event are making this event a strong contender to catapult Japan's festival scene to hew heights. Packages including festival tickets plus top accommodations are proving very popular and have mostly sold out, with some space still available – so you’d better hurry.
One of the festival’s highlights will be a collaboration with Cercle on March 2, when they’ll livestream a sundown session featuring ZHU, supported by Bag Raiders and Running Touch, at Hakuba Mountain Harbour.
