Robot 84’s ‘Promo Vol 5’ is a sun-kissed fusion of house & Balearic energy

Robot 84, the alias of UK producer and DJ Scott Ferguson, delivers another masterclass in groove with ‘Promo Vol 5’—a four-track EP that blends house, nu-disco, Balearic, and downtempo textures.

The release dropped yesterday, March 3, in vinyl format via Juno Records.

Known for crafting lush, sun-drenched soundscapes, Robot 84 has built a reputation for delivering hypnotic, groove-heavy productions that transport listeners straight to the Mediterranean coastline.

‘Let’s Do It’ opens the EP and sets the tone with rolling percussion, deep basslines, and swirling synths. A dub version strips back the layers, allowing the rhythmic core to shine through.

The highlight of the release, ‘Beats From The Far East’, serves as a spiritual successor to ‘Dreams From The Far East’ from ‘Promo Vol 4’.

This track immerses listeners in a dreamlike fusion of hypnotic percussion, ethereal flute melodies, and a trip-hop-inspired bassline. A deep Balearic energy runs through its veins, balancing a sense of movement with meditative calm.

Robot 84 shares: “‘Beats From The Far East’ is a track inspired by my long-standing intrigue with the textures and tones of vintage Far Eastern synths… I aimed to create a listening experience that’s hypnotic and soothing but with a down-tempo groove to bridge between worlds and create something truly fresh—paying tribute to those influences while giving it my spin.”

Closing the EP, ‘Ambient Love’ drifts into lush downtempo territory, layering delicate percussion over expansive synth waves—sunset sounds at their finest.
