Bongomann delivers a groove-laden masterclass in minimal with ‘Fogworx’ EP

Singapore’s Bongomann steps into the spotlight with 'Fogworx' EP, his first solo release on the label he co-founded, Super Enjoy.

This groove-heavy, four-track offering showcases Bongomann’s typical rich sound, leaning into minimalism and atmosphere to craft a lush listen.

Inspired by “the magic that high-density smoke machine liquid can bring to a night”, the EP captures the ethereal energy of hazy, late-night dancefloors, whilst retaining soul-soothing minimalism.

Across its runtime, Bongomann draws on a spectrum of influences—blending Melbourne-inspired psy and prog on the standout single ‘High Density’, exploring ambient and dub textures on ‘Unconcerned’ and ‘No Worry’, and delivering emotive house and breaks on the title track.

We kick off with a serene, synth-forward slow burner that feels tailor-made for poolside afternoons and sunsets. As the EP progresses, the tracks ramp up in energy without sacrificing the mellow, introspective vibe that ties the project together.

Our pick, ‘High Density’ stands out for its understated groove—refusing to overcomplicate, instead letting its intricate elements take centre stage. It’s rich but understated, and it’s the subtle nuances you may not catch on the first listen that make the track stand out.

Meanwhile, the closer, ‘No Worry’ brings it right back down, with its ambient atmosphere taking centre stage. It’s the perfect lullaby to close out this excellent release.

It does make us want to experience the project as intended - in a dark, smokey room where the sounds are all that matters.
