Dexter Colt delivers hypnotically meditative label-debut EP, ‘Guided’

Super Enjoy co-founder Dexter Colt kicks off the year with his first solo outing on the label, ‘Guided’—a lush, immersive dive into ambient, dub techno, and electronica.

From the off, ‘Guided’ weaves an ethereal world of sound, offering a journey that’s as soft and smooth as it is transportive.

As he says, it’s “music for when you leave the sesh feeling philosophical” and we couldn’t agree more.

It opens with ‘Loci’; an ambient soundscape that patiently unfolds over five minutes, subtly easing listeners into the sonic realm Colt has crafted. Piece by piece, it drifts toward ‘Eternal’—a track that, while still delicate, lifts the energy with rich, luscious synth textures that evolve fluidly, evoking the sensation of an underwater voyage into the deep unknown.

‘Keep Going’ is the EP’s most house-leaning moment, layering elements with finesse while maintaining the warm, meditative quality that defines the release. It pulses with a subdued energy, showcasing Colt’s ability to balance texture and movement effortlessly.

Closing on a playful note, the title track ‘Guided’ is a euphoric send-off that channels a hint of nostalgia—think early-2000s Nokia ringtone, but most hypnotically and endearingly possible. Shimmering synths dance over thoughtful, layered foundations, cementing the EP’s dreamy yet introspective mood.

Reflecting on his first solo release on Super Enjoy, Dexter Colt shares with Mixmag Asia: “It’s a nice feeling. I finished this project just before we launched the label and didn’t think it would fit because we weren’t sure what the label’s identity was at that point. But as our sound evolved naturally, I realised Super Enjoy was the only home that made sense for this.”

As with most Super Enjoy releases, ‘Guided’ is seemingly built for hazy, introspective moments—ideal for smoked-out communal spaces, rainy-day reflections, and post-sesh contemplation, and we’re eager to hear more in this sound from Dexter Colt.
