Qilla Records marks 100th release with 35-track masterpiece, 'Chakravyūh'

Today (May 20), Qilla Records proudly presents its landmark 100th release titled 'Chakravyūh'.

Derived from ancient Sanskrit, 'Chakravyūh' (चक्रव्यूह) conjures the image of a spinning wheel, reflecting complex defence formations, mathematical constructs, and symbolic cycles. This theme is intricately woven into the compilation, which spans 222 minutes and features 34 artists from 12 countries.

Representing India are a number of stalwarts; ARTIFVCT, Audio Units, ELM, I7HVN, Kohra, KR:DS, Midnight Traffic, Monophonik, Namhar, Olt Voct, Re:Axis, SHFT, Synister, and Vishal Unni.

A number of Asian innovators such as D.J M.A.X, Temple Rat, Einox, and K.O.P. 32 contribute to the compilation with their distinct sounds, joined by several celebrated names from Qilla’s ‘Alchemy’ and ‘Sacred Alchemy’ events, including Dotdat, Innerworld, Polygonia, Sunju Hargun, Yuka, and Zequenx.

Making their debut on the label are European artists ALPI, Atomic Moog, Elisa Batti, Fonzo, Human Space Machine, Moisk, Save Your Atoll, VERMISST, and 9beats.

Sonically, 'Chakravyūh' is an audacious journey through electronic music’s multifaceted landscape, as can be expected based on the list of names above.

The compilation kicks off with Re:Axis’ ambient soundscapes that establish a reflective mood. It then plunges into deeper, hypnotic rhythms such as those in Yuka’s and Einox’s productions. As the journey intensifies, the energy surges with driving, pulsating beats which can be heard in Synister’s track.

This masterful blend of ambient, deep, hypnotic, energetic, and psychedelic elements underscores the synergy of individual creativity and collective vision, offering a transcendent sonic odyssey.

The album’s artwork, crafted by The Big Fat Minimalist, features 100 spheres in a radial constellation, symbolising Qilla's interconnected journey. Each sphere marks a pivotal moment in the label's history, embodying the perpetual cycle of musical creation and exploration.

'Chakravyūh' is available as a digital release and a limited edition double-disc vinyl pack of only 100 copies. Purchase here.
