No One Magazine spotlights queer club culture in Vietnam
The print-only publication goes deep into the scenes of Ho Chi Minh City & Hanoi

No One Magazine returns with its second issue, diving deep into Vietnam’s underground queer nightlife scenes in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
Its previous edition highlighted nightlife in Amsterdam.
Titled ‘Issue 02: No One in HCMC & Hanoi’, the print-only publication offers the first insider-driven, print documentation of the country’s queer club culture while prioritising local narratives and cultural context.
Featuring 15 pieces by over 20 Vietnamese, queer, and diasporic voices, it spans a wide range of topics including sapphic-led dancefloors, drag events in rural areas, trans-led performances rooted in traditional art, and the blend of techno and vinahouse in local parties.
On its website, the magazine mentions: “If you had visited these cities a decade ago, the underground electronic music scene you encountered would have been shaped largely by expat owners, promoters, and international line-ups. Today, local DJs, producers, organisers, club owners, and long-term expats, have transformed underground nightlife from an imported subculture into a distinctly Vietnamese movement.”
The release comes as Vietnam’s underground club culture gains more international attention.
Hanoi’s scene, still relatively young, has seen rapid growth thanks to DIY collectives and emerging artists like Di Linh and Trinh Nu. In addition, queer-led groups like Gái Nhảy and Bung L0n continue to expand the country’s alternative nightlife landscape.

“Speaking on behalf of over 100 people who helped shape this issue, ‘No One in HCMC & Hanoi’ is both a collective love letter to the queer scenes of these two cities and a declaration of existence and vitality from the community itself. Through these pages, we hope to illuminate the historical depth and expressive breadth of Vietnamese queer nightlife,” mention Editors-in-Chief Việt Raider-Hoàng and Jeremy Raider-Hoàng to Mixmag Asia.

Issue 02 launch events kicked off in the spotlighted Vietnamese cities over the past two weekends and will continue in Amsterdam and New York City on May 9 and 16, aiming to foster a sense of global connection and spark dialogue between the cities.
