MYRNE completes heartfelt EP 'The Four Stages' with 2 new tracks
Out via This Never Happened, 'Afterglows' & 'Mirror Harmonics' rounds up the project dedicated to MYRNE's late father
Singaporean producer MYRNE has unveiled the final two tracks of his emotionally charged EP, 'The Four Stages', which came out via Lane 8's Colorado-based label, This Never Happened.
Titled ‘Afterglows’ and ‘Mirror Harmonics’, these tracks follow earlier releases ‘Peter's Theme’ and ‘One Sunrise At A Time’, completing a project deeply personal to the artist.
MYRNE reflects on this body of work, saying, “For a large part of my life, I've never viewed instrumental electronic music as a suitable outlet for real-world emotion; I've always felt that the synthesizer was outclassed by, say, a guitar and earnest prose. But for the first time, I've reached a point of comfort to tell a heartfelt story solely with arpeggiators and wordless melodies.”
“'The Four Stages' is about dealing with loss, and is dedicated to my late father, without whom I would not be here making music today. It's derived from the five stages of grief; but this time, there are only four, because I believe no one fully accepts the passing of a loved one,” he adds.

'Afterglows' was previously heard as an ID in Lane 8's acclaimed mixtape series for Spring '24. The five-minute track is based on a hypnotic melody that guides the listener throughout—as it continues, more and more elements embellish the melody, transforming it from a subtle collection of notes to the driving force of an uplifting dance anthem.

The last track on the EP, ‘Mirror Harmonics’, showcases MYRNE’s masterful use of arpeggiators. This becomes more apparent as the track ebbs and flows between a soothing arrangement of elements to a full-blown EDM banger with its blissful synths and driving percussion.
Both tracks encapsulate MYRNE's signature style of emotional dance music, where melody, atmosphere, and euphoria intertwine to evoke profound emotion.
