MYRNE gifts us with four virtual worlds inspired by his ‘Circles’ EP

No stranger to our repertoire of Asian-based artists, MYRNE jumps into a virtual space to complement the release of his newest EP ‘Circles’. The experiential game titled ‘MYRNEscapes’ is a full sensory adventure that takes a single player into four different worlds that is inspired by each track from the EP.

Released via gaming platform Steam and created by Metamo Industries in collaboration with the National Arts Council (NAC), ‘MYRNEscapes’ takes you through a journey across landscapes that surrounds themes of contemplation and introspection towards MYRNE’s musical expedition.

As you venture into each of the mini-games within these worlds, the adventure you create is brought to life by encapsulating “the raw emotions and origins of each of the four tracks.” The artist himself hopes that each virtual walking simulator game can serve as a soundscape to his vision and provide a frame of reference to his creative process when writing his tracks.

The track ‘What Can I Do’ is set in a Star Wars-inspired world with celestial remnants surrounding red sands that sit on the ruins of an ancient city beneath a sunrise filled sky. This is also the first track that MYRNE released after signing with Astralwerks at the beginning of 2022. ‘Circles’, which is MYRNE’s second release from the EP, jumps into a magical ancient cave which allows you to interact with circles (obviously) surrounded by audio visualizers. ‘Emotion’ drops down a notch in the BPM scale with a world that is set on a lush plateau — a sense that makes you feel lonely, which is what MYRNE experienced while writing this track during lockdown.

Lastly, ‘Faithless’ treks down a lush junglescape that has mother nature beaming through every pixel. The design flows through a world of bioluminescent flora and fauna. A quick tip for your journey; follow the mushrooms.

“It's going to be a very interesting audiovisual experience, and I wanted to give people a sense of the place and worlds I imagined when I'm listening to these songs. It's a great overlap between my love for music and my love for big, open-world games, and I think the team at Metamo really knocked it out of the park,” says MYRNE.

If you have a Windows computer, you’ll be able to check out the full soundscape exploratory experience of ‘MYRNEscapes’ here. As for MAC users, guess you’ll just have to wait.
