Lastlings’ sophomore album teems with emotional, electronic indie dance cuts

Lastlings release their second full-length album ‘Perfect World’ today under Rose Avenue Records.

Like its predecessor, the Japanese-Australian, brother-sister duo’s sophomore album is deeply thematic and unconditionally personal, weaving a thorough storyline that showcases feelings of melancholy, insecurity and vulnerability over the course of its 12 tracks.

From start to finish, the album reflects on the journey of a breakup, exploring the mental and emotional hurdles that come with heartache and loss.

With ‘Perfect World’, Lastlings acknowledge heartbreak as a journey through the five stages of grief, unravelling the lessons learned throughout the experience and sharing their wisdom through idyllic verses and captivating hooks.

Setting an electrifying tone, 'Holding Me Like Water' propels the album forward with its explosive energy. It’s a poetic description of the final moments of a long-term relationship, fusing storytelling with euphoric synths and masterful production effortlessly complemented by Amy's impeccable vocals.

Across the record, Lastlings teeter at the cross-section between indie and electronic music, with cuts like ‘Noise’ and ‘Gravity’ catering to danceable synth melodies and rhythmic drum patterns, while others like ‘Far From Falling’ tap into lighter, euphoric soundscapes.

Concluding triumphantly, 'Perfect World' culminates with 'Far From Falling'; a buoyant pop anthem infused with dynamic breaks percussion and inspiring vocal artistry. This stellar finale concludes the album's emotions and themes, leaving audiences uplifted and profoundly moved.
