Kokolores Records to host showcase pool party with groove-centric house music
In just a year, the Bali-based label has built a strong roster featuring Sebb Junior and Sugarstarr, along with an ADE 2024 Sampler
Bali-based Kokolores Records has emerged as a notable player in the house music scene, with a sound that emphasises classic, groove-focused elements of house.
Founded in 2023 by German DJ and producer Maex, Kokolores—which means “nonsense” in German—represents an open, playful take on house music, with a focus on funky, jackin’, and disco influences.
After over 15 years in the music industry, Maex launched Kokolores to create a platform that would welcome both emerging and established artists. Kokolores debuted with ‘Your Love’, a track produced by Maex and Point85, and quickly expanded its roster to include artists like Sebb Junior, Sugarstarr, and Matias Sundblad.
In June 2024, Kokolores hosted its first event at Frankfurt’s Pracht club, featuring Juliet Sikora alongside Maex. The label recently returned for a night of nothing but house music by Hotswing, Perry Hotter, and Maex himself.
There’s also the ADE 2024 Sampler which spotlights a diverse range of sounds that resonate with both new listeners and dedicated house music fans.
Releases like ‘Make My Body Rock’ by D.Rossini and ‘Somebody’ by Flauschig bring catchy rhythms and rich textures, while the label’s ‘Bali Pool Vibes’ compilations evoke laid-back, tropical vibes—well-suited to both club and chill-out settings.

Stay tuned for upcoming releases on the label, including one from Mao Silgrand and Pop House Brothers for the track ‘JUMP’ (November 8) plus remixes for Dan Laino's 'On Me' by Carlo Caldareri (November 22) and Maex and Akeem Raphael’s 'Whoop Shit' by Matias Sundblad and Tiger & Phoenix (December 6).
In addition, another of the label's outputs is Kokolores Radio, which comes out monthly and showcases the curations of a variety of artists.
Kokolores Records' reach has grown steadily with live showcases and bi-weekly releases; those interested are encouraged to send their demos in the form of SoundCloud links to [email protected].

Now, Kokolores Records is ready to bring it back to Bali with a Halloween pool party on October 31 at Luna Beach Club from 3-9 pm. Known for its stunning beachfront location and amphitheatre-style design, the venue offers the perfect tropical atmosphere for Kokolores’ uplifting sound.
The Halloween event, featuring Maex, Colas, and Soulfunk, will kick off a new monthly residency.
