Kiss Nuka channels mystical rhythm & flow on ‘Taabiir’

Following headline sets on CIRCUITS in June which landed in Bangkok, Taipei, and Hong Kong, Kiss Nuka drops with ‘Taabiir’ as part of ‘Ragom’; the latest compilation from Siamese Twins Records.

Released on August 1, ‘Taabiir’ dives deep into rhythmic mysticism.

The title means “deeper interpretation (of dreams)” in Urdu, and the track feels exactly that; a hypnotic, dreamlike descent. It’s built around vocal percussion inspired by the South Indian rhythmic tradition named Konnakol.

While the melodic backdrop remains stark and monotone, the rhythmic detail is anything but. Fractured beats twist beneath ghostly layers of chant, each vocal line stacking and speeding up like a ritual in motion.

As Kiss Nuka explains, “The state of flow is precious. To find the way to connect with your higher self, and to give form to that is a privilege. Producing ‘Taabiir’ has been quite like this; instinctive, a state of flow. It has sounds taken from the magnificent artist that is Nature…from her creatures, her bones, and her breath, and features the magic of Konnakol, the art of vocal percussion in South Indian Carnatic music.”

‘Taabiir’ is one of nine immersive tracks on ‘Ragom’.

Announced last month and already sold out on cassette, the VA explores meditative soundscapes built from field recordings, minimalist electronics and ritualistic textures.
