Huru Hara debuts in Kuala Lumpur with Dubrunner as headliner

Huru Hara, a new cross-border collective linking Singapore and Kuala Lumpur’s underground scenes, makes its debut on 18 October at Cero PJ.

The launch brings together UK producer and DJ Dubrunner with residents Mia, TASHASAN, and Traction Control for a night built around dub, breaks, and leftfield bass.

The project is co-founded by TASHASAN, known for her work with Singapore’s North East Social Club, alongside Mia and Traction Control, both previously part of Kuala Lumpur’s Breakboy Club. Together, they’ve shaped Huru Hara as a platform designed to strengthen regional ties and spotlight bass-driven sounds.

Huru Hara’s mission is to establish a consistent regional network while connecting Southeast Asia’s underground to the wider global community.

“We aim to lean more towards celebrating our own sounds here in Southeast Asia and building a platform that can carry them further,” mentions TASHASAN.

The debut night’s line-up reflects the range of influences that define the collective’s identity.

Dubrunner brings a hybrid mix of steppa dub, breakbeat, and jungle, rooted in UK soundsystem culture.

Mia’s sets explore fluid, rhythm-led blends across breaks and bass; TASHASAN threads percussive 140 and juke-inspired basslines; and Traction Control closes in with industrial textures and hypnotic grooves.
