On March 13, 宀 Club introduces Zagareet; a new artist booking agency and party series focused on shared heritage, sound and long-term musical curiosity.

Curated by Shereen Jolly and Nikola Skočajić, Zagareet brings together artists whose practices sit naturally between cultures, scenes and listening spaces.

The first guest is Black Merlin, who opens his Asian tour with a Hong Kong premiere, before stopping by NYAPI and EXIT.

Black Merlin is not only known for forging a uniquely hypnotic, deeply textural strain of techno, with spectral atmospheres and ritualistic rhythm, but for years spent in field recording expeditions venturing into the wilds of Indonesia, and later establishing a deep relationship with the Kosua Tribe of Papua New Guinea, recording their daily lives, ancient customs and wildlife. These journeys produced two landmark records: ‘Hipnotik Tradisi’ and ‘Kosua’.

Born and raised in England, Black Merlin aka George Thompson isn't trying to offer any anthropological lens of the outsider. Mirroring Zagareet's ethos, he's merely trying to listen, archive and introduce some of the people and music he's encountered, weaving them into contemporary listening practices. The nightclub very much included.

A highly respected DJ and producer, his discography spans a wide range of underground labels and performances throughout Asia, America, Australia and Europe, including Berghain, Tresor and Rural Festival in Japan.

Alongside releases for Andrew Weatherall's Bird Scarer, Silent Servant's Jealous God and DJ Nobu's BITTA label, his work has appeared on Berceuse Heroique, Island of the Gods, ESP Institute, Mannequin Records, and several other carefully curated imprints that have championed his darker, hypnotic, atmospheric sound.

Support for the night comes from Zagareet resident Yadin Moha.
