‘Century Plant’ is Ryogo Yamamori’s & Kan Shinomura's latest minimal techno trip
Two tracks of sharp percussion, floating synths & hypnotic grooves out via Kagerou
Japanese techno stalwart Ryogo Yamamori continues to push minimal techno to new heights with his latest EP, ‘Century Plant’, co-released with Kan Shinomura on his own label, Kagerou.
The two-track release further cements Yamamori’s reputation as a master of psychedelic-infused minimalism, showcasing his signature ability to weave unconventional elements into seamless, hypnotic grooves.
Yamamori has long been at the forefront of Japan’s techno scene, with releases on prestigious labels such as Ovum Recordings, Modularz, and Non Series.
His sound—a fusion of deep, trippy soundscapes and driving rhythms—has garnered international recognition, and with ‘Century Plant’, he refines his sonic language even further.

The EP opens with ‘Century Plant pt. 1’, an addictive percussive-driven piece that rides on a groovy, thumping bassline. Fluttering euphoric synths add a subtle warmth, while sharp, razor-like beams of sound undulate through the mix. Despite the many sonic elements at play, the track remains stripped-down at its core, its intricate layers working in harmony rather than overpowering one another.

‘Century Plant pt. 2’ carries the rhythmic momentum forward, but its brighter synth textures lean deeper into the psychedelic realm.
