Ryogo Yamamori teases second EP with Bolivian producer Ivana

Tokyo mainstay Ryogo Yamamori has teamed up once again with Bolivian-born, Barcelona-based techno pioneer Ivana for a three-track EP.

Titled ‘Contemplar lo natural’, the release is set to come out via Yamamori’s own Kagerou Recordings imprint on April 14. The two previously paired up for the 2022 release ‘Wave drag’.

Ivana founded the Electro Preste festival in 2015 which aims to celebrate and unify traditional folklore and Andean culture with contemporary dance music. The festival is considered one of the biggest events on the Bolivian cultural calendar.

As for the Japanese minimalist maestro, based on an Instagram post, Yamamori will be heading over to Hong Kong and China in mid-April and May.

Ahead of its public release, Mixmag Asia was given the opportunity to listen to the EP in its entirety. The title track ‘Contemplar lo natural’ employs the enchanting vocals of Bolivian songstress Vero Pérez that flows between the deep resonating rhythm of undulating synths and powerful kick drums that hit from the very start.

Following is the atmospheric ‘Orogénesis’ which perfectly marries the captivating sounds of pads and piano — of course, complete with stripped-down, repetitive beats to further the release’s commanding energy. Last but not least, ‘Géiseres’ is a track as hypnotic as they come with its airy synthplay, sweetly scattered piano notes and just the right amount of restrained yet compelling drum patterns.
