Browncoat finds balance between dancefloor appeal & auditory pleasure in ‘Home’

Nawed Khan aka Browncoat has continued to carve a name for himself in India's alternative and underground electronic music scene for over a decade.

Having previously shared stages with heavyweights like Sven Väth, Lane 8, Ben Böhmer, Tinlicker, and Disclosure, plus landed on legendary labels like Anjunabeats, Steyoyoke, and Buddha Bar, he’s just released ‘Home’ via Purified Records — a track that brings us into a poignant dimension with undulating sounds and hypnotic vocals.

During the creative process, the Mumbai-based producer aimed for a balance between dancefloor appeal and auditory pleasure, which he's masterfully attained.

“Every element has been meticulously chosen to complement one another. The melody and harmonic content are designed to captivate listeners, while the groove elements ensure they keep moving joyfully to the music,” he shares with Mixmag Asia.

Browncoat further explains that the track began with a bamboo flute sample, around which he crafted a musical landscape that seamlessly blends Indian influences with modern electronic sounds. The vocal addition adds a final touch of magic to the composition.

The track’s artwork also comes with its own message. It features an image of a zebra shark captured by renowned underwater photographer Daniel Nicholson, and aims to draw attention towards the animal’s vulnerable status, facing threats like habitat loss and overfishing.
