Bed Supperclub to be resurrected for a one-night affair in Bangkok this week

We try not to overuse the term legendary, but we think it's right for this one; once-legendary Bangkok nightclub Bed Supperclub is getting a one night revival this week on the night of its 10-year closing anniversary.

Not many clubs carry this kind of clout for so many years after closing, but Bed Supperclub was a bastion of club culture for more than a decade in Bangkok. It seamlessly presented an edgy dance music agenda to a well-heeled audience, putting Bangkok on the map as a destination for touring acts. Over 11 years on Sukhumvit Soi 11, it welcomed anyone from Diplo to Laurent Garnier, Frankie Knuckles, Sven Väth, Maya Jane Coles, Tiësto, Chemical Brothers, Sasha and Digweed and many, many more. It dedicated nights to any and all genres from jazz to drum' n' bass to dubstep, and it was packed any time it opened its doors.

The all-white club shuttered the doors to its spaceship for the last time on August 31, 2013 with a final hoorah (see picture in hero), a memory revived in the description of the forthcoming honorary event.

"There was a drag dressed as a runaway bride who gave birth to a plastic baby live on stage,” the description reads. “One last time, we've blown the fire extinguisher on stage (today, it's much easier with the CO2 cannons). The amplifiers broke down three times. We had what was indeed Asia's biggest pillow fight ever to have happened. We finished the beverage inventory. We've had people dancing on the beds. We've had a fantastic line-up of DJs, some of whom will join us again on September 2nd."

The anniversary event takes place at Sing Sing Theater, which you could loosely call the second coming of Bed Supperclub, and is free for all. An all-white dress code ensures that Supperclub spirit is rekindled, and that longtime fans of the club reemerge from the woodwork for this one-night extravaganza.

"Sing Sing will not turn into Bed Supperclub but it will be surely the closest thing you will experience since Bed closed 10 years ago."
