Brazilian record label Aureum has just released a new remix of Azymuth’s 1975 hit ‘Melo da Cuíca’.
The remix features founding members of the jazz-funk trio including the late Ivan Conti Mamão, Kiko Continentino and Alex Malheiros, whom the label has long admired and have had deep desires of collaborating with, and Brazilian DJ and producer Bruce Leroys. They both teamed up with record label Aureum to convince the legendary members of Azymuth to re-record their iconic hit, 'Melo da Cuíca.'

The original elements of ‘Melo da Cuíca’ remain intact on Aureum’s remix; the percussion elements including cuícas, a native Brazilian drum, double bass, the Hammond organ, Rhodes keys and synthesizers were all performed by official members of the band and recorded by Aureum.
The original track was recorded back in 1975, and the 2017 re-recording took place at the iconic Castelo studio. In 2023, the remix was approved by Azymuth's founding members and has quickly become a defining moment for Aureum who aim to shed light on the depths of Brazilian music through their releases.
