.TAG marks 10 years with 3-day celebration & new resident announcement

Chengdu club .TAG is set to celebrate its impressive 10th anniversary on March 22-24, 2024, boasting a line-up of both esteemed international and local names on the decks.

Touch From A Distance label head Nick Höppner, US-based Physical Therapy, club resident Lawrence Lee, and Japanese techno icon DJ Nobu have been appointed headliners ready to deliver sets spanning various genres.

Accompanying them are local talents such as HAO, Leonwill, DJ BLUE, Hakkaellen, Pollyhedron, Kekexili, Haux Haux, Dustmite, Darkle, X.Lee, Hazel, Call A Taxi, Sanyo, Aymen, Heling, 观自在速递, 吕志良, CHAMBERLAIN ZHANG, ZARAH, and VJ UPDUB, showcasing the vibrant diversity of China’s underground.

The celebration comes with the theme “.TAG《十》年”, which incorporates Chinese book title punctuation marks. It symbolises the intricate and enriching journey of the past decade, during which .TAG played a pivotal role in shaping the electronic music landscape in China by nurturing local talent, introducing international artists to enthusiastic audiences, and weathering the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Further enriching the book metaphor, the club states that each of its past ten years has been akin to “a biography of the characters in the scene, a book filled with various images and answers, and above all, a collective memory album for our family.”

In late 2023, .TAG announced the addition of two international residents leading up to their tenth anniversary; A7A head honcho Lawrence Lee and Mala Junta co-founder DJ TOOL.

Now that the anticipated year has come, the club makes another significant addition to its residency by roping in Berlin-based D.Dan, who says he “quickly fell deep in love” with the club after performing and dancing there over the Chinese New Year.

The joining of D.Dan as .TAG’s third international resident is a move that highlights the venue's dedication to creating an even more open and inclusive future for its community — for another 10 years and more.
