Yella Sky Sound & Dave Baransano to make SEA debut at International Dub Gathering

Indonesia is set to make its first-ever appearance at one of Europe’s most iconic dub and soundsystem festivals.

Yella Sky Sound from Jakarta and Dave Baransano from Biak, Papua, will represent the country at the International Dub Gathering (IDG) 2025 in Tarragona, Spain, performing on June 21 at the La Terraza Stage—one of the main stages.

This milestone marks the first time artists from Indonesia—and the Southeast Asian region—have been featured since IDG’s inception in 2016.

The duo previously collaborated at Stanton Session Festival in Cambodia and SUBCAMP Festival in Thailand, and now brings that synergy to one of the world’s largest gatherings of Jamaican-inspired music.

Yella Sky Sound, also part of Bangkok’s Gonja HiFi collective, and Baransano, a solo reggae artist, will bring a unique blend of Javanese and Papuan influence, embodying Indonesia’s national motto Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity).

“The message we want to share is that in Asia—particularly in Southeast Asia, and more specifically Indonesia—there are active and passionate dub/reggae artists and soundsystem culture practitioners,” said the artists to Mixmag Asia. “We will bring elements of Indonesian culture into our performance, including through the costumes we wear.”

IDG 2025 will feature global heavyweights like OBF, Iration Steppas, King Earthquake, Mala, and France’s Stand High Patrol.

“The dub/reggae and soundsystem scene in Indonesia is still in a developing stage,” they added, citing projects like Bandung’s ‘Nusantara Dub Connection’ as a sign of growing momentum. “The release received positive feedback and inspired a new generation of artists to create music in this genre [...], contributing richly to Indonesia’s music landscape and dancefloors.”

In addition to performing at IDG 2025, the artists are also scheduled to perform at a community dub/reggae event in Barcelona.

With their performance on international stages, Yella Sky Sound and Dave Baransano signal the genre’s growing reach across Asia and its rich potential.
