Sijya debuts new single ‘Tabla’ on One Little Independent Records
She also becomes the first Indian artist to sign to the imprint, known as the longtime label home of Björk

New Delhi-based composer, producer, and graphic artist Sijya returns with a striking new single, ‘Tabla’, out today via the UK’s One Little Independent Records.
The track serves as the first taste of her forthcoming EP, 'Leather & Brass', which drops September 12.
Best known as the longtime label home of Björk, Sijya now joins the One Little Independent Records lineage, becoming the first Indian artist ever signed to the influential UK imprint.
Leather & Brass marks a bold new chapter in Sijya’s sonic evolution. Where her 2022 debut EP 'Young Hate' offered a delicate entry point into her minimalist world, her latest project embraces weight, texture, and abrasion.
Sijya spent months pulling apart and rebuilding the material, transforming sterile digital synths into tactile, distorted sonic artefacts.

Lead single ‘Tabla’ is “The song is about forcing yourself to go through the ordeal of believing in yourself”, and is a haunting listen with its textured synths, layered vocals and heartfelt melodies.

“Before this EP, I felt like I was just messing about. 'Young Hate' was my first attempt at doing any music at all,” she reflects. “Now, with this second EP, I feel like I have become a musician. I am doing this with intention.”
Speaking on the significance of being signed to One Little Independent Records, Sijya shared, “They have a long history of supporting strong and serious female musicians. Björk is the ultimate matriarch of us misfits. This is thrilling and somewhat nerve-racking, too. It's definitely fuelled a lot of new energy into me, and faith,” she adds.”
