Traditional Bollywood turns contemporary on the reimagining of ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’

Indo Warehouse co-founder Kahani and Jeff Veliz reimagine the iconic Bollywood track ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ in their latest release, ‘Chaiyya II’.

This hypnotic rework transforms the original into a dancefloor-ready slammer, blending nostalgic (for many) allure with contemporary production.

The track features smeared vocal stabs and transcendental chants that captivate, while lush melodies add depth and personality.

Familiar vocals overlaying contemporary production is a tried and tested formula, and this track is a prime example of it done tastefully and correctly.

‘Chaiyya II’ pays homage to its South Asian roots, breathing new life into the timeless track—a hallmark of Indo Warehouse’s ethos.

The collective continues to draw on its cultural heritage to deliver authentic and innovative takes on modern house music, bringing South Asian sounds to a global audience at spots such as Coachella.

Kahani says: “Creating ‘Chaiyya II’ let us dive into the nostalgic power of one of the biggest Bollywood records to ever be created. As we’ve played it around the world on tour this year, it has brought smiles to thousands of faces. To be able to bring it to dance floors with our signature sound is a dream come true.”
