TIBASKO unleash the energetically euphoric ‘Hawt’ via Another Rhythm
The nostalgia-inducing track teems with evocative sounds from UK house music heydays
November 18, 2022, marks the release of electronic duo TIBASKO’s latest single 'Hawt' via UK record label, Another Rhythm. The Hertfordshire-based pair made up of Ken Petalcorin (who is of Filipino descent) and Andy Bowden conjured up the nostalgia-inducing track in a single afternoon during a break from their US tour.
Evident in the use of the M1 organ bass and some deeper, dubby elements throughout the track, 'Hawt' pays homage to the era of UK house music championed by the likes of Dusky, Huxley, Shadow Child and more — names the duo mention to have forefronted their raving experience back in the day.
TIBASKO decided to take time in between shows while in LA to "really get our heads down and finish some ideas we were sitting on." The result? A naturally sizzling sonic offering of shuffled rhythms, syncopated snares, four-on-the-floor kick patterns…the works that showers listeners with a feel-good sentiment.
"'Hawt' is a feel-good music inspired by UK house during the 2010s. It features a catchy pitched vocal with a driving M1 organ and dubby bass to make it dance-floor-ready," mentions Bowden.

TIBASKO previously showcased their musical versatility to the excitement of many electronic music connoisseurs via their equally searing debut EP released by Another Rhythm in October. 'Tibasko' EP echoed with a high-quality melodic electronica sound that teeters between breaks, melodic house, trance and techno.
"After releasing our seven-track 'Tibasko' EP which showcased all the different aspects of our production, ranging from our more left-field tastes to electronica and techno influences, we wanted to make something that was going to lift people up on dance floors whilst bringing a little 00s nostalgia," they mention.
Being childhood friends definitely had its perks for the pair, leading them to naturally come back together in their uni days. "We decided to link up one day and make a track, it ended up getting signed after four days. That’s when we knew we were onto something with the TIBASKO project," Petalcorin explains to Mixmag Asia.

"It's quite lucky how we pretty much both have the same music taste as well, so it’s quite easy to work together collaboratively as a duo," he adds.
Five years later and garnering even more fans from all over the UK, Europe and the US with their recent slew of festival gigs, TIBASKO continue to cement their name as a dynamic force of electronic music talent out of Southern England. As for us in Asia, fingers crossed they announce a trip to this side of the globe soon.
