Thomas Bangalter says that Daft Punk will not reunite for comeback show
The former robot also appeared on New York's The Lot Radio yesterday for an impromptu broadcast
Thomas Bangalter has confirmed in a new interview that he has no plans to reunite with his former Daft Punk partner Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo for a reunion show.
Speaking to The Times as he began touring his new orchestral project ‘Mirage — Ballet for 16 Dancers’, Bangalter explained that there are "other things to explore" now beyond Daft Punk.
When asked whether he’s tempted to reunite with Guy-Man for a show, he affirmed: "No", but said that he’s "really happy that throughout our long run we were able to not screw it up."

Elsewhere in the interview, Bangalter spoke on his time as part of Daft Punk, and disconnecting the robots from reality. "It was almost performance art where you create these characters and blur the line between fiction and reality," he explained.
"The history of music is made of fruitful partnerships and they usually last way shorter than the 28-year run that we had. It was great, but staying in character and not spoiling it became very difficult," he added.
Bangalter also spoke on his recent outing with Fred again.. at London’s Alexandra Palace, where they performed back-to-back marking the former robot’s first DJ set in the UK in 19 years.
He said that "most of the Daft Punk songs were played by Fred", and commented on the energy of London crowds, saying: "They were going crazy at 7:30PM — only in the United Kingdom!”

Elsewhere, he also spoke on the duo’s eventual split, and how he’s now moving on to other projects. "I was one of the robots, but now I’m just a human without any superpowers," he said.
Yesterday (June 8), New York’s The Lot Radio dropped a surprise DJ set from Thomas Bangalter on the station, with a livestream aired immediately as it was announced.
Throughout his 75-minute set, Bangalter played tracks from the likes of Aphex Twin, Burial, Boards of Canada, and Oklou, as well as new music from his ongoing ballet project. Watch it below.
