Oklou urges for "better working conditions" at Primavera Sound following adverse weather
The Barcelona festival was hit with persistent wind and rain on Thursday, leading to the cancellation of multiple sets
Barcelona's Primavera Sound Festival was forced to cancel multiple performances over the weekend due to adverse weather conditions.
On Thursday, June 4, the Parc del Fòrum-based festival pulled the plug on several sets, including headliners Doja Cat and Massive Attack, as its opening day was thrown into "chaos" with persistent rain and 80km winds that made it "impossible" to reschedule performances.
In a statement shared via its website, Primavera Sound explained: "The established safety protocol dictates that it is not safe to hold concerts in such strong winds."

While several stages remained open, others including the Estrella Damm and Occident stage were forced to cancel performances, with Mac DeMarco's team explaining that they were unable to set up on time due to the weather.
France's Oklou was able to perform as scheduled, though she's since shared a statement calling for "better working conditions" at Primavera Sound.
"Yesterday was the biggest crowd I have ever played to with the shittiest weather," she wrote in an Instagram story. "Thank you so much for standing there in the rain - I want to do this again ASAP."

She continued: "Kudos to my team, it’s been a hard day of work. I hope that the festival can offer better working conditions in the future, 'cause half of the team came back to the bus unfed and soaking wet 'cause of the very chaotic shuffle system after hours of hard work."
Fans on X shared their disappointment and frustration over cancellations, with one writing: "The rain wasn’t even that severe – it’s that the festival was not ready at all."
Primavera Sound also shared a statement following disruptions, letting fans know that they can apply for a refund for Thursday day tickets. The festival continued as normal throughout its remaining days.
