Telepathic Instruments’ cult-favourite synth, Orchid, launches globally

Telepathic Instruments has released Orchid globally following two instant sellouts.

The chord-generating digital synthesiser, co-founded by Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, is now available exclusively through its official website as of October 10.

Recognised by TIME as one of the Best Inventions of 2025, Orchid is already in use by artists including Kid Cudi, Don Toliver, Fred again.., Diplo, and Sara Landry.

The instrument’s design centres on a chord logic algorithm that enables users to generate complex harmonic structures with minimal input.

Three independent synth engines provide a wide range of tones, from vintage keyboard sounds to layered ambient textures. Built-in effects, looping controls, and a beat engine make Orchid suitable for both songwriting and live performance.

The latest firmware adds several updates based on user feedback: quantisation for timing accuracy, new drum FX, sound saving, loop save and recall, a cutoff frequency filter, and ten new sounds designed by Parker.

Also included in the launch is Pistil, a software plugin that extends Orchid’s sound engine into digital audio workstations, allowing direct sync between hardware and software.

For producers and songwriters, Orchid offers a practical way to explore chord progressions and arrangement ideas without relying on theory or complex programming.

Telepathic Instruments will host an Orchid pop-up at Amsterdam Dance Event (October 22–26) at Filling Pieces, offering hands-on sessions with the instrument in its first European showcase.

Purchase Orchid for US$649, and add the Pistil Plugin Beta for Mac for US$50 more here.
