Roland launches ASPIRE electronic music education programme across Asia & Australia

Roland Corporation and not-for-profit organisation Musical Futures International have launched the Roland ASPIRE Project, a classroom-focused electronic music education programme built around hands-on music-making with hardware.

Officially announced on January 29, 2026, the project follows an extended testing phase that began around August 2024, with active school trials taking place by late 2025, including pilot programmes in Thailand in November 2025.

The programme is currently active in Bangkok, Melbourne, and Singapore, reflecting a strong Asia-Pacific focus from the outset.

Designed for teachers with varied musical backgrounds, Roland ASPIRE emphasises practical engagement over technical theory, using accessible tools that work in real classroom settings.

Participating schools receive a classroom set of Roland AIRA Compact instruments on loan for six weeks, alongside workshops, lesson guides, and digital teaching resources. These materials support students at different experience levels and are informed by research in Electronic Music Pedagogy.

Students will work through guided tutorials and “recreate a track” exercises based on electronic and popular music styles.

“Young people connect most deeply with music when they are given the opportunity to create in styles that matter to them. The Roland ASPIRE Project gives teachers practical tools and confidence to support that creative process in their classrooms,” says David Whitehead, Tactical Marketing Manager at Roland Asia Pacific.
