Rockstar Games reportedly tried to reunite Daft Punk for GTA 6
Reports claim that the former robots were offered an "unlimited budget" to create the video game's score for a "final comeback"
Rockstar Games attempted to reunite Daft Punk for the Grand Theft Auto VI soundtrack, according to a new report.
With an all-star cast of musicians confirmed to feature on the soundtrack, the latest in the Grand Theft Auto series is set to land on November 19 including French touch legends Justice, who were confirmed as the composers behind the GTA VI score last week (October 15).

Justice shared the news alongside a new launch trailer for the game, featuring their new, standalone single, ‘Flower in a Hurricane’, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.
However, according to music rumour platform Has It Leaked, Rockstar reportedly attempted to tap another beloved French duo for the highly-anticipated follow-up to 2013's GTA V, Daft Punk.
In a post shared via X yesterday (October 20), Has It Leaked wrote: "Daft Punk's management (yes, still exist) were pitched 'a final comeback' of the duo for the GTA VI soundtrack with what was 'essentially an unlimited budget'. Justice were Rockstar's second choice."

While Daft Punk are not involved in GTA VI as a duo, former robot Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo has produced a track with Travis Scott on its accompanying soundtrack, RHYNO', which landed via streaming platforms in September.
The duo, who parted ways in 2021, launched an in-game collaboration with Fortnite in 2025; The Daft Punk Experience featured immersive artwork and a soundtrack consisting of a "supercut from their legendary ‘Alive’ tour and ‘Alive’ 2007 album".
