Risa Taniguchi drops powerhouse debut on Nicole Moudaber's MOOD

Risa Taniguchi makes her striking debut on Nicole Moudaber’s renowned MOOD imprint with the hard-hitting two-track EP ‘Look At Hatred’.

Released on October 11, the EP is a testament to Taniguchi’s ability to craft raw, relentless sounds that are as captivating as they are powerful.

The title track, ‘Look At Hatred’, is a floor-shaking techno weapon, driven by thundering basslines, sharp hi-hats, and industrial claps that explode across the mix. Its fierce energy builds a wall of sound that surges across the dancefloor, while its dark undercurrent gives it an ominous, gripping atmosphere.

"I wanted to create a track that Nicole [Moudaber] could use to blow up the dancefloor during the peak time of her set. So, when I came up with the short break idea for 'Look At Hatred' while playing around with my vocal samples, I got chills just imagining her dropping it," Taniguchi explains to Mixmag Asia.

The second track, ‘Is Black Your Favourite Colour’, is a groove-heavy counterpart, featuring muscular drums and razor-edged synths.

Its repetitive vocal loops and hypnotic rhythms make it a perfect choice for dark, sweaty warehouse sessions; "‘Is Black Your Favorite Color’ is something I made without any specific intention—enjoyed the jam and this popped up,” she mentions.

Moudaber herself is thrilled to have Taniguchi on board.

“Risa is a super cool, talented producer—she’s a whole MOOD,” she says. “I’ve been watching her for a while now and really digging what she is doing so I knew I needed to work with her. Her tracks really stand out when I play them, she’s definitely one to watch and a rising star in the techno world.”
